City of Broussard

Security Vulnerability Reporting

If you believe you have found a security problem in this website, we want to hear about it.

Draft for City review. This page was prepared by the City's website developer and has not yet been adopted by the City of Broussard. It takes effect once approved.

How to report

The current contact for security reports is published at /.well-known/security.txt. Please include the page address, what you found, the steps to reproduce it, and how we can reach you. You may report anonymously.

Do not include personal information about other people in your report. If you came across such information while testing, tell us what kind it was and where, and delete your copy.

What is in scope

This website and the services that directly support it. Websites the City links to for bill payment, permits and utility statements are run by other companies and are not in scope; report problems there to the company concerned.

Testing we ask you not to do

  • Anything that could slow down or interrupt the website for residents, including denial-of-service and high-volume automated scanning.
  • Viewing, changing, copying or deleting information that is not yours beyond the minimum needed to show the problem exists.
  • Social engineering, phishing, or physical testing of City staff, offices or equipment.
  • Sending test submissions through public forms in volume: each one reaches a City employee.

What you can expect from us

  • We will acknowledge your report, keep you informed while we investigate, and tell you when it is fixed.
  • We will not pursue legal action against you for security research carried out in good faith and in line with this page.
  • With your permission, we will credit you once the problem is resolved. The City does not pay rewards.

Everything else

For anything that is not a security vulnerability, including a broken page or a question about City services, please contact the City.
