Payment for permits is available by both credit card or check.

• Fees for New Residential can by calculated by multiplying Estimated Cost of Construction ($105.05 x Total Sq. Footage) x $3.50
• Fees for New Commercial can be calculated by multiplying Actual Cost of Construction x $5 and dividing by 1,000

Building permits are required for all new construction, demolition, and most home-improvement projects, including:

• New Additions
• Accessibility Ramps
• Decks & Covered/Enclosed Porches (including repairs to existing decks)

• Electrical - Apply Online
• Fences (8 feet or taller require engineered drawings and permit)
• Fire Suppression or Detection System (State Fire Marshal approval)
• Garage
• HVAC - Work must be performed by licensed contractor. Apply Online
• Interior Remodel (Cosmetic-only does not require permit)
• Plumbing - Contractor must be state license. Apply Online
• Roofing
• Siding, Soffit/Fascia, Gutter (Cosmetic-only does not require contractor)
• Sheds (Any shed at or over 200 square feet requires code review and permit)
• Signs, temporary - must contact the City of Broussard 337-837-6681, ext. #5
• Signs, permanent - requires permit
• Swimming Pools & Hot Tubs (Swimming pools require review and permit)
