• The Broussard Chamber of Commerce hosted a Mayoral and City Council Candidates Forum to help the public learn more about the people running in the fall election. Thanks to Bernadette Lee for serving as moderator and Our Saviors Church for hosting the forum.  

  • Another great example of why Broussard is a great place to invest. The latest numbers show our local sales are the strongest in Lafayette Parish.  

  • "Broussard was up 17% at $63.2 million in taxable retail sales, which also puts the city at 21% ahead of last year’s pace, which leads all municipalities in the parish." - The Advocate, Sept 9, 2022 

  • In partnership with the Lafayette Economic Development Authority (LEDA) and the Broussard Economic Development Corporation (BEDC), the City of Broussard announced the development of three new “Retail Ready” zones. 

  • Construction on the Ambassador Caffery/U.S. 90 Interchange is scheduled to commence at the end of this month.  

  • La Neuville Road reconstruction between Bonin Road and Hwy. 89 has been released for public bid. Reconstruction work is estimated to begin in January of 2023. 

  • Our Public Works drainage crews have been performing maintenance in our coulees and roadside ditches to improve drainage. 

  • BEDC board members Toby Armentor and Ryan LaGrange presented the 2022 Broussard Economic Profile, which shows the tremendous economic strides that have taken place within the City of Broussard.

  • Broussard celebrated a groundbreaking for St. Jude Dream Home in Langlinais Estates subdivision.

  • Prejean's Cajun Restaurant to expanding to Broussard in the former Trapp's location.  

  • Mayor Bourque recently spoke to a gathering of Women of Wisdom of Acadiana at the Valsin Broussard House. WOW is a 501(c)3 women's organization that strives to embrace, enlighten, and empower women to amplify their voices for diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

  • Congratulations to Broussard’s own Madison Conrad for being named 2023 Miss Louisiana Collegiate USA 

  • Registration is open for Kids Tennis Fall Clinics at the Broussard Sports Complex. Attendees learn hand-eye coordination, basic footwork skills, scoring, serving, and more! Ages 7-18 are encouraged to join.  

  • As we work to preserve our history through the Valsin Broussard Visitors Center, we welcome everyone to join us in this exciting historical project. We are seeking pieces of Broussard’s history that you may have. Here are some of the things we’re looking for: Artifacts that belonged to our founder, Valsin Broussard, along with Stories and/or Photos of original Broussard structures  

  • This month’s Coffee in Broussard will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, at Ton’s Drive-In  (101 W. Main Street) from 7-8:30 am. These community gatherings occur on the last Friday of every month. Come out and enjoy a cup of coffee with staff from city hall, the fire department, and the police department.
