• In the recently completed 2021/2022 fiscal year, the City of Broussard operated within 1% of our budget. With a new budget approved for 2022/2023, we will continue to invest in improvements to benefit our growing community.

  • Phase 1 of the Envision Broussard Main Street Redevelopment Plan (S. Bernard to Clara St.) is nearing completion, and the improvements are already visible.

  • The recently approved budget includes $300k for utility relocations in Phase 2 (Clara St. to Saint De Porres St.)

  • $2.4 million has also been approved to fund Phase 3 (Saint De Porres Street to Albertson Parkway) drainage improvements and roadside parking near Arceneaux Park.

  • Broussard has accepted ownership of LA 182 (East Main St.) between Albertson Parkway and Saint Etienne Rd. By extending city control on this key corridor, we can better plan for future development and include it in our Envision Broussard Redevelopment Plan.

  • With funding allocated in the new budget, our public works department will begin clearing and sweeping Coulee Fortune, the longest canal in Broussard. The project will provide major drainage improvements, especially for the historic areas of town.

  • More than $4 million is budgeted for improvement projects on S. Bernard Road Phase 3 (Main St. to Hwy. 90), including the addition of a third lane and a new bridge. Three-quarters of the total funding will be provided by a capital outlay grant from the state.

  • We are improving public safety in Broussard by funding two new police officers, one new detective and providing new equipment.

  • Additionally, the budget includes money for architectural/engineering planning work on the much-needed new Police Department HQ building. With Broussard's rapid population/business growth it is vital that we supply all first responders with the technology and equipment that they need to perform their job safely.

  • The Broussard Fire Department is adding 24-hour coverage at one of its stations as part of the new budget.

  • In July, the Broussard Sports Complex hosted several successful events, including a True Talent-sponsored football event that drew3,200 in attendance. The Lafayette Little League State Softball and Baseball Tournament also attracted a total of 8,812 visitors over two weeks.

  • A drainage improvement project was completed near Martial F. Billeaud, Sr. Elementary School and Comeaux Estates Subdivision.
